Criminal Law
Criminal Law is the prosecution by the government against a person who has been accused of an act that is classified as a crime, under the penal code. Crimes can be classified as felonies which are serious offenses, or misdemeanors such as petty theft. Sullivan & Attanasio provides criminal defense for the following crimes;
DUI/DWI: Those charged with Driving Under the Influence or Driving While Intoxicated (DUI/DWI) are prosecuted both criminally and administratively. The accused must face a judge in criminal court along with a hearing officer from the Department of Motor Vehicles. This administrative per se hearing determines the suspension of the driver’s license.
Crimes Against a Person: These are crimes committed by an offender who uses violent force against another individual. These crimes include: Sexual Assault, Assault, Domestic Violence, Murder, Robbery, Burglary and Home Invasion.
White Collar Offenses: These types of crimes can be prosecuted on a state or federal level carrying severe consequences for those convicted; either imprisonment or large fines. These include Tax Fraud, Securities Law Violations and RICO.
Drug Offenses: These types of offenses are pursued very aggressively at the state and federal level. Charges include: Possession of Narcotics, Sale of Narcotics, Operation of a Drug Factory, Possession of Narcotics in a School Zone, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, etc.
